Cinagli, A. Le Monete de Papi (Money of the Popes)
LE MONETE DE' PAPI by Dott. Angelo Cinagli (Fermo, 1848). The coins of the popes described in synoptic tables. Encompasses the whole of Papal coinage from 731 to 1847 and quite comprehensive for its day. Still very valuable are the tables that comprise the bulk of the work, which are divided into obverse types, obverse legends, reverse types, reverse legends (even minor variations warrant a new catalog number) and a rarity schedule. The first great work devoted to the coins of the papal mint.
480 pages, leather bound, 14.6" x 10.6" x 1.9" thick (37cm x 27cm x 5cm), small pencil check marks by most listings. Also included are photocopies of four plates of engravings. Rare and sought after. Fine+. Full title: LE MONETE DE' PAPI DESCRITTE IN TAVOLE SINOTTICHE
