2009 Postcards Santa Maria ad Martyres Photo

2009 set of five official Vatican postcards on the 1400th anniversary of the dedication of Santa Maria ad Martyres (Pantheon). In 609 A.D., the Byzantine emperor Phocas gave the Pantheon to Pope Boniface IV who converted it into a Christian church and consecrated it to Sancta Maria ad Martyres, now known as Santa Maria dei Martiri. The postcards depict old etchings of the Pantheon, including one by Giovanni Battista Piranesi who produced numerous drawings of Rome. Mint condition.
