Pius IX 1868 Silver, The Raphael Loggias

Anno XXIII silver medal of Pope Pius IX dated 1868. Reverse depicts a view of the famous Gallery, created in the 16th century by architect Donato Bramante and located in the second story of the Apostolic Palace. Its walls and vaults were painted by Raphael's pupils after his sketches and under his direction. Lots of intricate detail which can be seen under magnification.
