Pontifical Academy of Fine Arts Medal ca.1860

Circa 1860 medal for the Pontifical Academy of Fine Arts and Letters of the Virtuosi al Pantheon, one of the ten Pontifical Academies under the direction of the Holy See. On the obverse are represented the implements of art, with the motto FLORENT IN DOMO DOMINI (They Flourish in the House of the Lord). The reverse is inscribed PONTIFICIA INSIGNE ACCADEMIA [di Belle Arti e Letteratura] DEI VIRTUOSI AL PANTHEON. 55mm across by papal medalist Niccolo Cerbara.

Nice detail, some damage: long scratch on the obverse, rim bump on reverse.
