Large bronze medal, 50.5 millimeters in diameter, commemorating the First Vatican Council which opened on December 8, 1869 and adjourned October 20, 1870. Reverse depicts the interior of the Vatican Basilica during the Council which consisted of 744 individuals, mostly cardinals, archbishops and bishops. Brown Unc, uneven toning on obverse.
